Laura + Matthew’s Philadelphia engagement session was easily one to remember. This was a bitterly cold day with some significant winds. On top of that, the Philadelphia Marathon was happening. Laura + Matthew are getting married at the Crystal Tea Room this December so the thought of exploring the City was an easy win. We decided to meet up at the Redding Terminal Market which is where they have shared several memories over their time together. With the outside temperatures and winds keeping us chilly, we bounced between being inside and outside. We explored the Loews Hotel, Broad Street, Love Park, the Wannamaker Building, City Hall, and several others as well. The goal was to have a good time and not freeze. Ha!
Laura + Matthew started dating in 2016 after swiping right. They quickly learned that they were both EMTs and shared a lot of common interests. They agreed to meet at Crossroads Restaurant for their first in-person meeting. Little did they know that it would be a memorable one. Laura’s grandparents had also decided to go to breakfast at Crossroads that morning and were sat right next to Laura and Matthew. Thankfully, Matthew wasn’t phased by this and ended up asking Laura to dinner later that day.
Through their time together, they have shared a lot of amazing moments and built some great memories. Hearing their engagement story was also something special. I just have to share it with you. Their third date was at Longwood Gardens, and they have gone there every year since. In 2021, they had already picked out a ring together and Laura knew that the proposal was coming soon. They went to Longwood together and did a full lap of the Conservatory. Laura thought that this meant tonight was not the night. Little did she know that Matthew’s brother was following them while Matthew scouted for the perfect spot. On the second lap, Matthew proposed to Laura in the cactus room. A few people were there and all started clapping. We then did a photo shoot at the gardens!
In addition to planning their amazing wedding, Matthew is in his third year of medical school and Laura has recently graduated from nursing school. This December, they will be sharing their vows to one another at the Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia.
